First Century Films is an independent film and photography studio founded by Alicia M Shober.

Still and moving, beauty and horror, fantasy and truth - an enigma. That is why I am a photographer and filmmaker. I am seen and invisible, able to focus on the details to show the whole picture. I can show truth on a two dimensional canvas.

I want to capture God’s beauty in the world yet show the evil that exists - a paradox. I want to capture the honor in the restoration of hope and the fight to return the beauty, the peace and the calm. Freedom comes with a cost, honor is fought for, and the loss brings gain. I want my photography and films to show these things. To show the enigma of life through the lens that focuses attention.

One process is raw and simple. There is no thought, no hidden agenda, no opinions, just what lays before me when the shutter is snapped. The other is a way to focus on the big picture in the details. To find the truth in a past to bring hope to the future. It is crafting the scene to recreate something lost.

Ultimately, I seek hope in photography and truth in film.

The most recent completed film project was “The Hitchhiker”, a short film. It is available to purchase at the store or you can watch it online . It is about a man who abandoned his family for money and then finds that they are all his has.
